Additionally Josh has studied piano restoration, banjo wizardry with an internship in the shop of Jim Burlile, and Violin family repair and set up under Jeff Sahs.
Josh custom builds fine instruments (see gallery) including guitars, banjos, mandolins and resophonic guitars. Josh specializes in the building and repairing of acoustic stringed instruments. Josh's extensive experience playing and working directly with musicians allows him to optimize the sound quality and playability of each instrument as well as adjusting to each musician’s personal playing style.
Josh has a deep understanding of each of these instruments as a result of being a multi-instrumentalist and singer. Beginning his musical journey on bass, Josh then picked up mandolin and banjo, finally adding guitar and dobro after his studies at Roberto-Venn. Josh has performed with numerous professional Bluegrass, Country and Rock bands, touring North America and Europe. Josh performs regularly on banjo (5- string and clawhammer) guitar, mandolin, dobro and bass. Josh is twice nominated for a Grammy award and currently performs with Bluegrass legend Keith Little and the Little Band, and the Jim Walter Jamboree.
